We guess this scammer wanted to brag with his "power seller" status. Never reply to any eBay member messages if you can't recall doing business with the person. If you really did business with this person, you will also be able to verify the details in the message by typing www.ebay.com into your browser and logging in from there.

"Is this email inappropriate? Does it breach reporting it."

The scammers really screwed up here. eBay will never send e-mails with confusing phrases like this one.

"Copyright © 2006 eBay, Inc."

eBay sending an e-mail in 2007, with a 2006 copyright notice? We don't think so.

Finally, every link in the e-mail pointed to the phishing link. It is obvious that each link in the e-mail should point to a different page, so it is impossible for all the links to point to the same URL.

Remember, most scammers make silly mistakes. If you read these e-mails carefully, you will be able to spot these inconsistencies, thus protecting yourself from identity theft and financial loss.

For another example, similar to this one, refer to the eBay Member Question Phishing Scam.
