A spammer trying to be creative, but if you read this e-mail carefully you will easily see its flaws. First the spammer tries to catch the reader's attention with a shocking subject line. The problem is, this e-mail was sent on 1 February 2007. It is obvious that this spammer has lost track of time because Clinton is no longer president (for quite some time now). It is interesting to see how stock spammers play with the hash busting text from e-mail to e-mail. Instead of adding the text at the end of the e-mail, the spammer puts it in the body of the e-mail.

Stock spammers playing with colour. The spammer tried to hide the hash buster text by placing the text, displayed at the top, inside the HTML header and the text at the bottom just after closing body tag. For some strange reason the spammer messed up the HTML by nesting one HTML document within another and therefore the hash buster text was displayed as a result of this bad coding error.

You will probably not believe us when we tell you that this e-mail also contains hash buster text. The spammer cleverly hid the text within the small rulers between each section of the e-mail by shrinking the text to an illegible size with the following HTML code:
<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 2px; COLOR: #000000; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent">the text is added here</SPAN>.
When you format the following block of text with the abovementioned HTML code:

Here you can see a classic example of a spammer trying every trick in the book to bypass the spam filters without distracting or confusing the reader. Did you notice how the words "TRADERS", "WATCH" and "Alert" are spelled. These words are commonly used in stock spam and may easily trigger a spam filter, so the spammers try to disguise these words by adding a space in a strategic position in the word. Notice the letters "zb6 at the end of the e-mail. This is yet another way of hash busting and is less distracting to readers than the methods used in the "Playing With The Subject Line" and "Common Stock Spam Terminology" examples. Some spammers use longer number sequences like the one in the next example.
